BLUEPRINT FOR A LANDSCAPE

Second Avenue Subway, Location: New York NY

Project for the new Second Avenue Subway. Sarah Sze’s immersive work at 96th St is integrated with the station architecture, utilizing digital printing technology to fire her drawing directly onto Alcalagrés porcelain tiles.
Sze created the artwork, called “Blueprint for a Landscape,” and we apply the color and lines to 4,300 porcelain tiles. The deep blue background is punctuated with birds, scaffolding, and foliage caught up in the chaos of a whirlwind.
